Steinbach Skating Club

We are proud to offer CanSkate, and Jr StarSkate programs again for the 2014/2015 season

CanSkate, Skate Canada’s flagship program is one of the most sought after skating programs in Canada. CanSkate was developed by experts to teach the fundamentals of skating in a progressive and sequential manner. Designed for beginners of all ages, the focus is on fun, participation and basic skill development. Participants earn badges as skills are mastered. Skaters are taught in a group lesson format by a NCCP Certified Professional Coach, supported by trained Program Assistants.
Children can start in the program around age 3.

CanPowerSkate is the only nationally regulated power skating program in Canada.
Geared towards hockey and ringette players and developed by a team of hockey, figure skating and ringette experts, this action‐packed, high energy instructional program focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance. The fundamentals of power skating including skills, techniques and conditioning drills are taught in a progressive and sequential manner that emphasizes how the skills apply to game situations.
CanPowerSkate provides an alternative to figure skating and is an excellent complement for those athletes playing on hockey or ringette teams. To enrol in CanPowerSkate, pre-power, you must be able to get up on your own and skate the width of the arena. There is a level of CanPowerSkate for every skill level of skater!

Jr. STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to compete at club, invitational and interclub competitions while taking Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system.
